- He also coached eight seasons at Hamline University (2011-18) the last two as defensive coordinator
- At Hamline he coached safeties, linebackers, and defensive line
- He began his collegiate coaching career at UW-Eau Claire as a graduate assistant working with the inside and outside linebackers
- Played four years at St. Olaf, the first three splitting time at linebacker and defensive end and then moved to running back his senior year
