Matthew Russell

Matt Russell joined the Trinity College football staff in April of 2023 as its defensive line coach. Russell arrived at Trinity from Bryant University, where he was an assistant offensive line coach in 2022. From 2018-2021, he was the offensive line and tight ends coach at American International College. Russell began his coaching career at ASA College (N.Y.) before spending the following three spring seasons coaching the Lazio Ducks in Rome, Italy and coming back to the States in the fall to coach the running backs at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. 

Originally from Florida, Russell played football at Hiram College in Ohio, where he earned a bachelor's degree with a double major in business management and political science and a minor in entrepreneurship.  Russell also owns a master's degree in business administration with a focus on analytics in football, specifically comparing NFL team victories versus players' salaries by position.
