Mickey Jacobs enters his second season as a defensive assistant and fourth overall with the Pitt football program.
Jacobs worked with a defensive unit that was highly instrumental in the Panthers’ run to the 2021 ACC championship, ranking second nationally in sacks (3.86 avg.), sixth in rushing defense (89.3 avg.) and eighth in interceptions (16 total).
Prior to his current appointment, Jacobs was a recruiting graduate assistant during the 2019 and 2020 seasons. He played an integral role in helping the Panthers sign a 2021 recruiting class ranked No. 22 nationally by Rivals.
Jacobs arrived at Pitt highly familiar with Western Pennsylvania football. The Pittsburgh native was a standout at Fox Chapel High School before going on to play at Duquesne University from 2013-16.
A linebacker for the Dukes, Jacobs was part of three Northeast Conference (NEC) title teams, including the 2015 squad that advanced to the NCAA Division I playoffs.
