Todd Taylor joined the Mavericks in the summer of 2022 as the defensive line coach/special teams coordinator. In March 2023, Taylor took over as MSU's defensive coordinator and linebackers coach.


During the 2022 season, Taylor coached three All-NSIC players, including Trey Vaval, who would receive All-NSIC First Team honors as a return specialist. Vaval would go on to claim D2CCA All-American Second Team honors for his efforts in 2022. The Maverick special teams boasted the best punt return team (19.8 ypr), kickoff team (41.6 net yards) and punt teams (37.0 net yards) in the NSIC.   .


Before serving as the North Park University defensive coordinator, Taylor spent three seasons at Denison University. In 2018, he coached the running backs, before coaching the linebackers from 2019-20. While at Denison, Taylor helped the team to a pair of North Coast Atlantic Conference (NCAC) Championships in 2018 and 2019.


Before joining Denison, Taylor spent two seasons at Hanover College where he worked as the team’s special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach. He also worked as a defensive backs coach at Indianapolis (2015-16) and as a running backs coach at Carthage  College (2014-15). Taylor earned his bachelor’s degree in Education at Anderson University where he was a four-year letterwinner as a linebacker.
